In “The Closer” pilot, viewers first see Brenda Leigh Johnson at a crime scene, where a woman has been shot.

“Looks like love,” she says.

Her last line in the series finale, after her co-workers give her a purse full of her favorite snack, is again, “Looks like love.”

“I wanted her last words and first to be the same,” Duff said. “It’s said with sarcasm at the beginning and it’s sincere at the end.”
